Fantastic as usual from Prof Pagel.

Note

(1) The JN1 wave is already rising more steeply / faster than the steepest [XBB 22Oct -02] since Omicron, ur 1st graph set above.

(2) While Flu is rising fast, quite unlikely it will reach last yrs peak 22/23 season as the latter was a "catch-up pile-on" from the near absence of flu in 20/21 and even 21/22.

(3) In any case covid remains FAR FAR more dangerous, short and long term effects, than flu.

4) Vac boosters remain best bet to reduce ur risk of "hospital food" experience, or worse, coffin experience.

The crazy govt decision NOT to even ALLOW the under 65s to BUY a booster, never mind give it free

( all other Western nations offer it free to 50 to 65yrs, and at minimal fee to those younger) will ensure many unnecessary deaths.

Demand your MP pressurises govt to at least match the booster offerings of our peers in USA, Canada, France, Oz etc

JN1 is definitely a vaccine evader. I can also say that having flu from a few days before + at the same time as COVID is not a good place 😂

Covid Best Idea, if u match UK govts McScrooge eligibility criteria

( eligible if over 65 or vulnerable or health care worker etc)

is to get ur covid booster and flu vax on SAME day, at SAME time, one in each arm. Otherwise i think u need to leave a 3 week gap or more for the second after you get the first

Unfortunately, having flu when you get covid infection significantly increases

( from memory, i think it doubles) ur chance of bad outcome from covid, eg by getting long covid, or hospitalised or worse, icu

Thank you for this clear information, we certainly will be heeding your warning but will probably be in the minority again. Despite most I know having had Covid in October and subsequent colds, I’m afraid sharing will only bring abuse from those unwilling to listen. I don’t know how we undo the propaganda that it’s mild and over.

Everyone should be masking ANYTIME they're in public. Everyone should still not be in restaurants and bars or a crowded indoor venu. Because that would lower transmission.

or at least try to go to restaurants, bars at less crowded times or on weekdays, if possible

Yeah, no🤦‍♀️ If you can't eat outside, you absolutely should not be eating at a restaurant.

Thank you for this concise and essential warning. The reports from other countries on pirola certainly sound alarming.
