There is a lot less Covid data around now, but what there is shows that levels of Covid remain low in the UK. That said, I do expect prevalence to increase in the coming weeks as we see the arrival of new variants that seem to be replacing the JN.1 variant that caused the Christmas 2023 wave. We must also prepare for the next pandemic, with outbreaks of Avian Flu (H5N1) in mammals becoming increasingly concerning.

Are the spring boosters likely to help avoid serious infections of the new approaching variants? Mum's 89, she's been invited to book hers. It's not clear to me yet that as her carer, I can have one.
Yes, the spring boosters will help, so please encourage your mum to get hers! carers don't seem to be explicitly included this year, but I'd suggest accompanying your mum to her appt and asking if they can spare you one as their carer.
Mum is waiting to get it. She never refuses. I'm waiting for our local pharmacy to know if they are doing it. They should know at the end of April apparently. If I can take her there I'm sure they will do me one. Last year my husband came and he got one too. Mum lives with both of us after all. Fingers crossed. Thank you.
