I'm furious that carers aren't included in the vaccine group this year, whilst still remaining eligible for flu jabs. How does the logic of not infecting the person you care for/staying healthy enough to care, apply to one of them but not the other!? It absolutely baffles me.
Mask wearing isn’t happening in hospitals, even in CCU units. I spent a lot of time in hospitals at the end of last year and the beginning of this year and at one point when someone on a ward (with elderly people on - separate patient to the one in CCU) with Covid who wasn’t masked was moved and I was wearing a mask a doctor asked me why and if I was okay, as if it must be a sign of poor mental health. And she was a brilliant doctor! Hospital staff are incredible, I think there’s been an acceptance that there’s nothing to be done.
I agree with you. My GP surgery tell me I don't need to wear a mask in there (I did this morning because I know numbers are quite high and I know of several villagers who have either had it or got it in the past couple of weeks. And last week I took my 89 year old mum to a hospital appointment and we were the only 2 people in masks that I saw. People look at me in a mask now as if I'm a fool. Fortunately I can take a lot more than being thought of as a fool. Everyone has given up. But we still have elderly and vulnerable and just ordinary working people in poor health but we've apparently decided it doesn't matter anymore. What happened?!
Long Covid is affecting a LOT of people and there's no cure. Not a lot of care being given to that or any of the problems the virus can cause the organs. It's so ridiculous.
Thanks as ever! Tragic that all the talk of a stronger emphasis on prevention to improve our health outcomes seems to have a blind-spot when it comes to COVID with the opportunities through masking and improved air quality largely ignored.
